There it is! The man holding the signs for us when we finally got out of the airport….

But Guatemala didn’t turn out to be as different as I expected at first.

This is a truck full of cows driving through the city. They must have been on their way to the Rey de las Hamburgesas.

Yes, that’s really a sign showing rocks falling on a car.

And if you made it past the falling rocks, here’s a ramp to help you stop if your brakes give out while driving down the mountain.

Welcome to Antigua! (That’d be the beautiful volcanoes in the background.)

Church! I believe that is La Merced. Don’t know what that means in Spanish… better get to class!

Church of Jocotenango where we went to mass tonight.

All in all, today was pretty amazing. So far the food has been good and the family friendly. I am ready to get to know the city better and go to class.

I would like to review the Guatemalan driving rules for any of you who have never been here and would like a taste of the experience!

1. The pedestrian does not have the right of way. Better yet, the pedestrian better get out of the way when you honk that you’re about to hit them.

2. Drive as fast as you can and brake as hard as you can.

3. If you beat the other car into the intersection, you have the right of way.

Well, I hope you enjoy this people back home!  This is my first time blogging, so feel free to keep your comments to yourself.
